A great wine is not the result of chance. It is purely the consequence of a blessing of Earth and Heaven, linked to an oenological knowledge and a passionate perseverance. Nestled in the heart of Khonchara, in Mount Lebanon, the soil of Monastery St. John is rooted between the sea and the mountain, thus benefiting from the clemency of the Mediterranean climate. The generosity of the soil, the humidity of the air and the vividness of the sun slowly ripen our grapes.
[read more]It is with respect and meticulousness that the monks of St. Jean to viniculture and vinification, to transform these red, white and rosé wines, in "divine wines" particularly unique and sacred taste.
The story began in 1720 when the monks have developed their first "Sweet Wine", in a period when Lebanon was under Ottoman occupation that prohibited the production of alcohol except for religious purposes.
To accompany the oenological evolution and to respond to international requirements of winemaking, the winery was renewed and modernized in 2006 according to scientific and professional standards, while keeping the monastic tradition of St John's Monastery, which manifests itself at the very first sip
